Design services.

BLUE FRUIT offers full scale design services, to take your project all the way from concept design, through detail design, working drawings & project management.

Most projects involve alterations, renovations and extensions, and the scale can range from one room to a new house design.

BLUE FRUIT often works in conjunction with other design professionals (eg building designers, architects, engineers & landscape architects), as well as with planners and surveyors, and of course with builders, trades and wholesalers.

A typical project would involve:-

  • spatial floor planning

  • concept design for the home overall

  • liaison with other consultants for Planning and Building Permit applications

  • detailed custom design of wet areas (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry) and storage areas (such as staircases, bookshelves)

  • selections for finishes, colours, materials and fittings (external + internal)

  • selections for window treatments, lighting & furniture throughout the home.

Stages.

Concept design.

Following discussions with you, a detailed brief is established.

A master floor plan for the home and an overall style is developed, which is represented as floor plans, initial selections for materials & finishes, and a Style Board.

At this stage, liaison will begin with other building consultants, to suit the scope of the project.

Detail design.

The concept plan is further developed up into detail design, resulting in documentation of working drawings (plans, elevations, sections) for tendering & works. This stage includes detailed selections (of hard & soft finishes) and a schedule of materials, fittings and fixtures.

This package (of working drawings + schedule) becomes part of the contract between the client and the builder.

Project liaison.

This covers the building stage, and includes liaison with various trades & builders during construction, to monitor progress through to completion. It includes site visits, as well as co-ordination with other building consultants (such as engineers, architects, draftspersons, landscape architects, etc.).
